Running in Cyprus along with the TUI Cyprus Marathon, in an effort to raise awareness for the altruistic life’s work and the athletic achievements of Stelios Kyriakides, we are organising a Virtual Race in his memory. As he was born in Pafos in 1910, the TUI Cyprus Marathon, organised in Pafos, is dedicated to this Marathon Legend.

Probably the greatest Marathon Legend of Greece & Cyprus who won the Boston Marathon in 1946 and he returned to Greece with the “Kyriakides Aid Package” of 25,000 tons of medical and food supplies along with $250,000 in cash from donations.

An inspiring person who was not only a pioneer in his athletic efforts but also compassionate and charitable in his everyday life.

The least we can do as runners is run the symbolic 7.7km in remembrance of him.

All participants can run the distance of 7.7km between 20/04 and 30/04 (20/04 is the date he won the Boston Marathon 1946). As an sign of appreciation, all participants will receive a custom Medal with the figure Stelios Kyriakides. The delivery will be done through the ACS of your choice or by post if living abroad. There is an optional t-shirt with the emblem he wore while winning the 1946 Boston Marathon.

Let’s raise awareness for this great human who changed the course of running and altruism.
