Introducing the first-ever trail running ultra in the beautiful Akamas Peninsula of Cyprus, the “Akamas Blossom Trail Running Festival” in the early spring when the first blossoms are starting to colour the fields.
The 50km race is a welcome addition to the annual Akamas Blossom Trail Running Festival, which also features 21km and 7km trail races.
The 50km (more or less) race will set off at 6am with a 10-hour cut-off and will have minimum four aid stations. It will take in Fontana Amorozo, Cape Anaroutis (the western tip of Cyprus) and the lonely lighthouse on the hill.
The first loop of about 29km will start and finish at the Baths of Aphrodite restaurant. The second loop will be the same as the one followed by those doing the half-marathon, also starting and finishing at the Baths of Aphrodite restaurant.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall finishers as well as to the top three woman finishers. All finishers will receive an attractive finisher’s award. Entry fee for the 50km ultra is 30 euros.
The 21km race will start at 10am and follow the same route as used in this year’s popular race (we have the GPX file if anyone wants it). There will be one aid station along the way. Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall finishers as well as to the top three woman finishers. All finishers will receive an attractive finisher’s ward. Entry fee for the 21km race is 15 euros.
The 7km race – which mainly follows the Aphrodite trail up into the hills and down the other side — will start at 10.30 am. There will be NO aid station along this route. Entry fee is 5 euros.
More details will follow and entries will open on January 1.
